Gift Ideas

As some of you may know, I love anything personalized! Here are some places I have ordered from and like. Some I don’t know and have not ordered anything from, but thought were cute or helpful for those looking for some gift ideas for the Holiday Season.  They are not just Holiday related, but places to get a gift for any occasion.

I also wanted to share my Holiday buying tips with you. If you saw our Disneyland discussion on The Talk, you know that I like to organize everything; I make a lot of lists. So, for the holidays, I make lists because I have a lot of people to buy for. I put all my kids of a certain age on one list and I usually find one gift that I like and get all the kids on my list that one thing, BUT if it’s a household with siblings, I will change it up. I try and find the coolest thing by Googling/Binging “Hottest Gifts for_____ age”…. I then take all my ‘couples’(on their own list) and I will buy a couples gift for them, I then put ‘Business Associates’ on another list and get them all a basket of some kind; ‘Family’ is all one list; I usually get my family a couples gift and then something extra and special. I also have each of us write what is on our Wish List, so we all know which direction to be headed. I think a lot of hubbies get lost during this time. I tell my husband a few things I want so I don’t end up with a blanket I didn’t want or a mug that’s says “World’s Greatest Wife”.
Family & Friends-I usually know what to buy because they are my family and friends and I know what they would want (I hope) and I get something special for who they are. Not expensive, just thought out.  I also have their wish lists!
Let me give you some examples, for my daughters’ class, I usually get something cute, like a Holiday Mug  and then fill the mug with a packet of Hot Chocolate and Marshmallows. I go to Target, Wal-Mart or the dollar store for cute little bags and tags, get a super pack of Candy Canes and use that for the outside of the gift. For kids’ gifts, I might get a personalized book for with their name on it, Holiday Cookie Set and Apron…
For my Couples’ Gifts, I have gone with Personalized PJ’s from Red Envelope. I know it’s a little cheesy, but that’s me! Who is going to get themselves Personalized PJ’s?! Not a whole lot, but I give em! And you know what? People love them.  Another idea, Pottery Barn has great blankets that you can get monogrammed.
If you can afford it, it is always nice to get a family gift a day at Disneyland. It is something people really appreciate because it is about creating memories.
There is a great company called My Publisher. It is easy to do and it is an amazing gift to give anyone you love. It is very personal and when I got one, I felt very loved.
For Business Gifts, I have given people travel mugs from Lillian Vernon, they are only $9.99!
A lot of companies and even department stores have great gourmet baskets.
Most companies have free shipping and wrapping, so you again save time and money.
If you are going to buy all the kids the same thing, often by calling the company and telling them you are buying in bulk, they will give you a discount.
And don’t forget, if you are invited to a Holiday Party, Dinner, what have you; always show up with a gift for the Host/Hostess even if they are your family. J
Hope this helps.
